Create task class which implements Callable. Call executeThreadWithTimeout with instance of task class and timeout number.

private void executeThreadWithTimeout(Callable task, int timeout) {
    try {
        ExecutorService executor = Executors.newSingleThreadExecutor();

        executor.shutdown();
    } catch (Exception e) {
    }
}
